In what started as a classic "We got a new stadium so we are gonna win" kind of year, the once 5-0 Vikings fell to 7-7 in a bumbling crash landing at home where the vaunted Viking "Purple Curtain" turned to Purple Rain and gave up 34 points to the stampeding Colts. Frank Gore found new legs against the Swiss cheese D and ran for 104 yards while Andrew Luck had his best game of the year.
In the aftermath, angry Minnesota fans stole several fire trucks, connected to city water, turned the new stadium into a lake, and burned the entire team in effigy on a sinking Viking ship.
Meanwhile, in the NFC North, the Packers found a way to win, the Lions lost decisively, and the table is now set for a Vikings/Lions swan dive while the Packers waltz off into the sunset for another year in the playoffs.
Just a little fed up in the NFC North, there, are we? The Vikes have to play the Pack next week, a likely loss, and then finish up with the Bears...and if they can actually tank it, at home, against the Bears, they'll be 7-9. Even though the 10 Club is the magic number for residency in the Basement, we'll have to give the Vikes an honorary spot. What a swam dive into the frozen pond. The LIONS get Dallas this week, on Monday night, so that sounds like a solid loss. SO, more than likely they will be tied with the Meatpackers for week 17 and guess who they play for the final game?
ReplyDeleteYep, last game for the Kittens is the Pack and they are playing in the Kat Box. As you may recall, the last game in the "Box" Kittens had it won and then Rogers connected with a 50 yard Hail Mary with zero seconds on the clock to win it. It was one of those plays where, as he bootlegged to the right and then got several seconds to wind up, step, and throw (like a center fielder with a man rounding third) you just knew that no matter how many Lions were in the end zone, a Packer was going to catch it. It was one of the most beautiful passes I ever saw. Too bad it beat my Kittens into a litter box clump!
