Dance of The Brownies

BROWN OUT IN CLEVELAND!!!

Well,  looks like Effie Kamman's famous song and dance is making a comeback.

CLEVELAND 37,  BUFFALO 24

It's hard to get the moves right when you are dressed like the kind of brownie that comes out of the oven, but WHO CARES?   The Cleveland Browns do the city of Cleveland a huge favor and win their third straight the day after the Cleveland Indians got bounced from the MLB playoffs.  People were crying in the stands.  For the first time in 20 tries, the Browns came back from a deficit of more than 8 points.   For the first time in 12 years, the Browns are 3-2 after 5 games- which is their best record in 12 years.   For the first time since I don't know the Browns are in first place in the AFC North.  It may not last, but look out when a team gets their confidence up.

Blank Helmet Football could be headed for a whole new meaning.

It wasn't easy.  The Browns opened with an injured QB Brian Hoyer in the first, digging a Basement sized hole immediately, falling behind 10-0.  But backup Brandon Weeden pulled up his brown leotard and got the Brownelles back in the game.  The Nils countered in the third quarter with their own QB injury, but far outdid the Blank Helmets with rookie Jeff Tuel, who finished up with a 31 passer rating, and tossed the expected killer interception deep in the 4th, when the game was still up for the losing.  The Ghosts of the San Diego Padres (those hideous brown uniforms in the '70s) ran it back for 6 and the Nils were deep-sixed and back on the losing side of football.

The Blanks have Detroit, Green Bay, K.C. and Baltimore the next 4 games, so they could be 3-6 by the time they get to pummel the Pittsburgh Steelers, but let's not get way out in the future.  Let's celebrate the Underdog winning...in a pretty hideous uni that will now be considered good luck.   Get used to it.

  1. We love our losers, but we really love it when they get up off the barcalounger and pummel a few teams. Go Brownies!
