Matchup of the Week: Brownies vs. Kittens at Ford Field

It's the Great Lakes Classic as the Brownies and Kittens tilt in one of the oldest rivalries in football, and now it's a true battle for the cellar.

Detroit sports blogger John Niyo has a nice entry on this game (see Nov. 17 entry) with a great video clip: http://apps.detnews.com/apps/blogs/lionsblog/index.php

As Niyo puts it: "It's a matchup of floundering 1-8 teams. It'll be blacked out on local TV. There'll be fewer than 40,000 fans in the stadium, more than likely. And the loser might have the inside track on the No. 1 overall pick in next April's draft. "

Here are the Vegas numbers: MATCHUP

Believe it or not, Brownies were 10-6 in 2007, but did not make the playoffs. For their record since 1946, go here: BROWNIE HISTORY

  1. Should be a real barn burner. Jesus. The Kittens should win, easily, but that's what I said about the Lambs-Kittens game, and we know how that turned out. I constantly over-estimate Detroit. Somewhere inside me there's a fan rooting for those bumbling mumps to pull one off and win going away. Maybe this is it.

Browns lost one of their actual starting receivers (as opposed to people they just take off the street) to substance abuse (pot Brownies?) for a while. Not that it makes any difference, since they don't throw downfield.

Those helmets aren't blank for nothin', you know.

Brownies 9 Kittens 19 I don't need to wait for Sunday. I know NOW!!

  2. You know, I WATCHED that Monday night game. The Brownies are just....the worst NFL team I've ever seen. They didn't seem to have any idea how to get a first down. They have NO offensive line. I'd have the line coach suit up and get out there. Might as well, he's not getting through to anybody, so why keep talking? Say something once, why say it again??
